23rd SEPTEMBER 2024. Probably one of the more memorable dates in the history of our band!
First up, we’ve closed our CrowdFunder after raising a quite incredible £18,196. We’ve run out of superlatives but thanks to each and every one of you. This means so much and we’re blown away by the love out there for The Vapors. We love you all and… THIS IS WHY WE DO IT! This amount guarantees that not only can we release the high quality album that we had envisaged, but also that we can try to bring it to an even larger audience because frankly, it deserves that.
Second… WE’VE FINISHED RECORDING OUR FOURTH ALBUM. We completed the studio sessions today, we’re enormously happy with what’s been achieved, and we can’t wait to bring this to everyone.
We’ll keep you all informed about how things are progressing, but most importantly, be ready for March 2025 when, just 45 short years after New Clear Days, there will be a new, fourth, Vapors album available!!
The Crowdfunder for the band’s fourth album closes at 7pm (GMT, Sunday 22nd September) tonight so today is your last chance to grab any of the rewards on offer. We have already exceeded the original target as well as the stretched target so huge thanks to everyone who has contributed so far. The band are still hard at work putting the finishing touches to the recordings in Pennsylvania. The countdown is on, snap up your rewards here before it’s too late…
The band concluded their 10 date US jaunt on Sunday at the Colony in Woodstock. Thanks to everyone who attended any of the gigs and to Rob Juarez, Michael Giblin, Bobby Weiss and the other US crew for their help.
With the shows done, the band can now turn their attention to the recording of their fourth album. You can still contribute to the band’s Crowdfunder here We can’t wait to hear the fruits of their labours…
We just like to pass our heartfelt thanks on to everyone who supported our fourth album Crowdfunder so far. Our initial target of £14,000 has been surpassed and the total is now almost £15k! We’ve now stretched the target slightly to provide a budget for marketing and promotion in the US to give the album the push that we think it merits. Thanks to everyone who has chipped in so far and it’s not too late to make your contribution here
The band played the last of their 6 Lost 80s Live shows on the US west coast last night. Looks like they were a great run of shows in huge venues in front of massive crowds. Cheers to Rob Juarez & the team for the seamless organisation as always. The band now head East for their four headline shows this week. The run kicks off in New Cumberland, PA, then they return for a pair of shows at New York’s Mercury Lounge and a last gig of the tour at Woodstock, NY. Some tickets are available for all four shows so grab them while you can. Links in the left hand gig listing…
Update 4/9- only a handful of tickets left for the New Cumberland show. Be quick…
The band are appearing at charity gig Wake Up Woking 12 which takes place at Chobham golf club in Woking on Saturday 12th October. The event is in aid of a local hospice and tickets are available now by scanning the QR code on the image below or via Paypal here
Three days into the Crowdfunder and we’re already over half way to the total! Thanks to everyone for their support so far…
As mentioned, we’ll be bringing new rewards throughout the Crowdfunder period and here’s the first one: ASK DAVE! Hurry though as there’s only 20 up for grabs.
So you can ask Mr Fenton anything you like, nothing is too daft! In return you’ll receive a personal video message from the man himself, Mr David Fenton thanking you for your contribution and answering your question.
Ever wanted to know how many stripey shirts he owns? Or just what IS in that shed at the back of the garden we keep seeing pictures of? Well now’s your chance!
***We reserve the right to refuse inappropriate questions (in which case your contribution will be returned). Please ensure you use a valid email when donating so that we can contact you to find out what you want to ask! Also note that you’re very welcome to ask “What is the song XXX all about?” but you’ll probably get the answer “whatever you want it to be about”. You can have that answer on us Offer runs until 8.00pm.UK time Sunday 11th August, or until all 20 rewards have sold, whichever is sooner***
So the link to the Crowdfunder page for the band’s fourth is now live here
There’s a full range of rewards, from £20 upwards, so have a look around and thanks again for your support as we work together to make that fourth album a reality.
Keep checking here and the Crowdfunder site too as we will have updates, progress reports, exclusive offers and more…
Many of you are aware of the possibility of a fourth Vapors album. Indeed, we’ve already had some very kind and encouraging comments about the prospect.
Well, the good news is we’ve got some incredible songs that we believe will help make that possibility become reality, and we’d like to make that happen early in 2025.
However, songs are not enough in the modern world of Taylor Swift, corporate deals that dismiss the majority of working bands, and those ubiquitous streaming platforms.
We continue to be amazed by the love, support, respect and friendship that we receive from our fan family around the world, so we’re asking you directly whether you would be open to the idea of helping contribute towards the five-figure sum that would be needed to record, produce, master, manufacture, distribute and market such a record. We’d like to provide vinyl, CD and digital formats and we want to make each one perfect. To be open, we are looking at Crowdfunding to help with the significant costs we will incur to get the album out there. In return, we’re planning a wide range of rewards, to suit every pocket, for fans to purchase and the proceeds will all be put towards making our fourth album.
So let us know how you feel about this idea? Please feel free to comment on our Facebook post or, if you’d prefer to do so offline, please send an email to: vaporsnumber4@outlook.com
We’re not seeking donations or pledges just yet, just trying to gauge how people would feel about the idea. We’ll decide upon our next steps based on the general response, so stay tuned for an announcement next week. Thanks for reading, and love always, The Vapors
