Following their fantastic appearance at the outdoor R-Fest stage in Blackpool last August, the band have been confirmed on the roster for the 2023 Rebellion festival. The festival takes place between 3-6 August with a huge line up of bands. The Vapors will play the indoor Opera House this year although the exact date is yet to be confirmed by organisers. Mike Philpott’s wonderful book about his life trailing The Vapors has just been published as a deluxe, expanded hardback. Bringing the original 2019 text fully up to the present day, Mike has added almost a hundred extra pages. In addition, there are three sections of photos, a newly designed dust jacket and a introduction by Vapors ally & former drummer in The Chords, Brett ‘Buddy’ Ascott. If that wasn’t enough, every book has been hand signed by the four band members!

The attendees at the Portmeirion event had a chance to grab a copy over the weekend. Now’s your chance… This limited edition, high quality hardbacked book is available exclusively through the Vapors Merch website here and will also be on the merch stall on the band’s 2023 tour (if any are left!). Each book retails at £30 and all proceeds-a huge £20 per copy-are being donated to the charity Parkinson’s UK. Exactly 6 years ago today, the newly reformed band played their first gig in 35 years at the Opium Rooms in Dublin. That show was part of a 4 date mini tour (plus a secret Guildford warm up) to test audience response to their reformation. The tour was a huge success, confirming that there was a big potential audience out there, even after all that time. The rest is history…

The band released a long awaited third album, nearly 40 years after their second, and have clocked up over 120 shows since that Dublin debut (despite losing 18 months of potential gigs due to the Covid pandemic). With a UK tour already in for early 2023, it looks set to carry on for a while yet. Long may it continue…
